An Election Day Prayer
With all the ranting about that we've all been doing lately, let's not forget to check in with the "Boss" (the real one!). I offer this shameless plagarism(s) from the Bible:
"O God, You are our God, earnestly we seek You. We have seen You in Your Creation and beheld Your Power and Glory. Because Your love is greater than life, our lips glorify You. The Dark Forces of this world are rallying to thwart You and defeat Your people. They speak cunningly and craftily in the ways of deceit. They bring misery, suffering, and murder to all of Your children. Their power makes us weary, but through You we will be strengthened. Through the long struggle with the Dark Forces, our souls will be satisfied with the richest of foods, with singing lips our mouths will praise You. We will continue the good fight to the end of time and all the time sing Your praises through the battles. Those who seek our lives will be destroyed and go down to the depths of the Earth.
Our soldiers long for You in a dry and weary land where there is no water. We pray for Your protective hand on their shoulders. On our beds, we remember Your grace, as those who have sworn to protect our lives watch our frontiers through the night. We pray that Your discerning eye will allow them to see all deceit and danger. Our leaders carry heavy burdens as crafty and cunning mouths disparage them. We pray for Your overpowering strength to rest in their hearts. As Your people select their leadership, we pray we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Finally, as Your people select their President, we pray You will deliver unto us a leader that will use Your gifts to him to protect Your people from the Dark Forces of the world and bring glory to Your name. We pray the President will rejoice in God; and all who swear by God's name will praise him, while the mouths of liars will be silenced. These things we ask in the precious name of our Lord and Savior - Jesus Christ. Amen."
As I said, I shamelessly plagarized the Bible in this. But that's why God gave His Word. Feel fre to use this prayer or come up with your own, but for God's sake as well as your own, say something to Him.
